Listed below are scholarships available to our current parish school students for the 2024-25 school year. (Note: click here to see additional scholarships available to our 8th-grade students for their Catholic high school tuition next year.)

Scholarships Funded Through the St. Sebastian Parish Foundation

The Mary Ley Burke Scholarship

The Mary Ley Burke Scholarship was established by Tom Burke, Class of ’44, to support St. Sebastian students and their families. The scholarship is in honor of his mother, Mary Ley Burke. This scholarship will provide up to four students currently in grades K-7 with awards of $500 or more toward the cost of tuition at St. Sebastian Parish School for next year. The Dayspring Opportunity Scholarship

The Dayspring Opportunity Scholarship is for St. Sebastian Parish School minority students who will be in grades K–8 next year. An anonymous donor wishes to help our school encourage and promote a more diverse student ratio of race and ethnicity that more truly reflects our nation. This is a wonderful opportunity for up to two students, grades K-8, to be awarded $500 each toward tuition here at St. Sebastian Parish School. The Lynn Frey-Steward Organ Scholarship

The Lynn Frey-Steward Organ Scholarship provides funding for organ lessons for those interested in studying the wonder and beauty of playing the organ. The scholarship is for grade-school age (K-8) parishioners of St. Sebastian Church as well as current students of St. Sebastian Parish School. This fund was created in 2017 in honor of Lynn Frey-Steward’s 50th anniversary of being an organist. Please use the Lynn Frey-Steward Organ Scholarship Application to apply.

The GOAL Scholarship

The GOAL Scholarship (Graves O’Neill Academic Leaders) is for a St. Sebastian Parish School student, who will be in grades 3–8 next year, who exemplifies leadership and academic excellence. This is a great opportunity for three or more of our students to be awarded $500 each toward their tuition here at St. Sebastian Parish School. The O’Neill family wishes to help recognize and foster the leaders of tomorrow. Please use the GOAL Scholarship Application to apply.

The Hanlon Family Scholarship (St. Sebastian)

The Hanlon Family Scholarship was established at the St. Sebastian Parish Foundation to provide tuition assistance to a St. Sebastian Parish School student who is a parishioner and indicates a financial need. This $1,000 scholarship is available for students entering grades K-8, and the award will be applied to the cost of tuition at St. Sebastian Parish School for next year. Please use the Hanlon Family Scholarship Application to apply. Note: this scholarship is offered by the Foundation for grade school students. There is a separate Hanlon Family Scholarship offered by STVM for incoming freshmen.

The Karg Family Scholarship

The Karg Family Scholarship was established by the Thomas D. Karg family in memory of the deceased members of the Karg family who were parishioners of St. Sebastian Parish, as well as in memory of the late Ann Karg and in honor of Molly Karg Burns, both of whom have been teachers at St. Sebastian Parish School. Many generations of the Karg family have attended St. Sebastian Parish School, and they all strongly value Catholic education.  The purpose of this scholarship is to support families of St. Sebastian Parish School who also value Catholic education. This scholarship is for a student entering a primary grade with an award up to $500 toward the cost of tuition at St. Sebastian Parish School for next year. The Tom and Jeanne LaRose Family Memorial Scholarship Endowment

The Tom and Jeanne LaRose Family Memorial Scholarship Endowment was established by the children of Tom and Jeanne LaRose in memory of their parents. Tom was a St. Sebastian graduate of the Class of 1942, and all five of Tom and Jeanne's children attended St. Sebastian Parish School. This scholarship provides tuition assistance to St. Sebastian Parish School students who are parishioners whose families indicate a financial need. This scholarship of $1,000 each is available for up to 10 students entering grades K-8, and the award will be applied to the cost of tuition at St. Sebastian Parish School for next year. The Frances L. Sharp Music Scholarship

The Frances L. Sharp Music Scholarship provides a $500 scholarship award for up to two current students of St. Sebastian Parish School to be applied to next year’s tuition. This scholarship is for active members of the St. Sebastian Parish School Band, St. Sebastian Parish School Choir, or St. Sebastian Parish Choir. Please use the Frances L. Sanctuary Society Service Scholarship

The St. Sebastian Parish Sanctuary Society offers a $500 Sanctuary Society Service Scholarship to one current altar server or usher of St. Sebastian Parish Church currently in grades 5-8. This scholarship is to be used to continue your education here at St. Sebastian Parish School or, if you are in the 8th-grade, at one of our area Catholic high schools. The women of the Sanctuary Society want to help you continue on your path of excellence. Please contact the current President of the Sanctuary Society with any questions. St. Irene Principal's Scholarship

The St. Irene Principal's Scholarship goes to one student, currently in in grades K-7, for $500 to be applied to next year’s tuition to attend St. Sebastian Parish School. The winner of this scholarship will be a student who exemplifies the spirit of our school mission by honoring the Catholic Christian traditions of the past, working to develop their talents today, and preparing for Christian service in the future. This student must be a hard worker, take pride in the school and themselves and have an impeccable discipline record. This student also must lead others by his/her example and do so in a humble way.
