Father's Bulletin Letter 6.2.24

May 30, 2024

Greetings,

This weekend is Corpus Christi weekend when we honor, affirm, celebrate, and publicly witness to Jesus Christ present to us as the Most Blessed Sacrament. There will be a procession of the Blessed Sacrament around St. Sebastian Square following the 9am Mass this weekend. If you are reading this early but are not attending that Mass, please consider joining in the procession which should begin roughly around 9:45am. You may meet us at the doors of the church or any convenient place along the route. We will end in the courtyard with benediction followed by Donut Sunday.

IN OTHER NEWS:

LIVE-STREAMING UPDATE: Currently we cannot live-stream the Masses from the parish. You may recall that we were having difficulty with our equipment and a few generous parishioners stepped forward to help us update. One of the pieces of equipment was not operating correctly so last weekend we shipped it back to the company for replacement since it was under warrantee. I hope to have our live-streaming up and running again in the near future. My apologies for the inconvenience. Please let others know who might be wondering what has happened.

SUMMER BREAK: This past Thursday was the last day of classes for our Parish School. A special congratulations to our eight graders who graduated that night. Know of my prayers as you take the Terrier Way with you as you head on to high school.

To all of our students, the Parish School and the Parish School of Religion, I look forward to seeing you all summer long at Mass as you continue your Catholic practice and education!

CIRCLE: Akron’s Finest Mulch was out this past week repairing the damage to the circle caused by a careless driver a few months ago. The artwork was righted, the rocks moved back into place, the water system restored, and new spring plants placed around the garden. Thank you so much!

MEMORIAL DAY POTLUCK: Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make our Memorial Day Potluck Breakfast such a wonderful event. Even though we had to move indoors because of the damp conditions, it was still a great “picnic.”

GROUNDS: Also thank you to the many volunteers who help with keeping our grounds in such beautiful condition, those who work in the Cutting Garden and the School Garden. Already we are receiving so many compliments on how our grounds are shaping up!

CLEVELAND CATHOLIC CHARITIES: Next weekend there will be materials available at all the doors of the church for those who would like to participate in Catholic Charities. This is in addition to the annual appeal that we already had. If you were not able to give at the time or if you wish to increase your donation, this is your opportunity.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
