Father's Bulletin Letter 4.7.24

Apr 04, 2024

Greetings,

Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed after all Masses this weekend.

IN OTHER NEWS:

DR. PETER KREEFT: This weekend we will be welcoming Dr. Peter Kreeft to the parish for two events. On Friday night he will be speaking to the young adults and on Saturday morning he will be presenting again in an event open to the general public. See last week’s bulletin, which can be found online, for further details.

Thank you to the West Side Couples for making these events possible! What a fantastic opportunity. And welcome, Dr. Kreeft. It is an honor to have you here.

ECLIPSE: This Monday, April 8 we will be experiencing the full eclipse of the sun. The local emergency response authorities have been warning us for months to expect terrible traffic and crowding conditions that day. Most schools are closed as are many businesses. Your parish offices will also be closed that day although the phones will be checked for messages. However, there will be the regularly celebrated Mass that morning.

TUESDAY ADORATION: There is still about two hours that we have not been able to find someone to volunteer to watch with our Lord on Tuesdays. I am in desperate need of either someone to fill those hours or to volunteer to coordinate adorers. For the rest of the hours, there has only been one person signed up. That leaves us in a pickle of someone becomes ill or is late. Please sign up on the sheets located on the altar rail in front of the Blessed Virgin Mary Statue or if you are willing to be the coordinator, call Cathy Sivec in the office (330) 836-2233.

DIACONATE: Saturday, April 13, Mr. Ryan Arto will be ordained a transitional deacon at the Cathedral of St. John in downtown Cleveland at 10am. That weekend he will serve as a deacon at his home parish of St. Francis de Sales in Portage Lakes and the following weekend, which will be his final with us, he will deacon and preach the Masses. Save the date for a farewell Reception for Ryan on Sunday, April 21 at Noon. At about this time next year, all things going well, he will be ordained a priest. You are all invited to these ceremonies. Because of diaconate, I will not be at confessions this Saturday.

I would like to thank his lay board who met with him regularly to give him feedback and help form him into an ordained minister of the diocese. They gave a lot of time and thoughtfulness in this process which will benefit Ryan and the people he serves for many years to come.

THANK YOU: Thank you to the scores of people that it took to be able to celebrate our Easter Triduum services. Ministers, coordinators, artists and, of course, all who came to celebrate made everything absolutely stunning.

For those who were unaware, the Easter Sunday 11am Mass was the final one at which Mr. Matt Andreski would be playing. He attained another full-time job taking care of two parishes in the Youngstown Diocese in North Canton. Thank you, Matt, for your years of service and dedication!

It was also Lynn Steward’s last Easter Mass (though she will still be with us for a little spell yet.) Thank you, Lynn, for an outstanding musical accompaniment to our Holy Week services. Talk about going out on top! Both of you have been such great giȅs to this community.

SPECTACULAR: Just a quick reminder that Spectacular is just a week away!

God bless,

 Fr. Valencheck
