Father's Bulletin Letter 2-20-22

Feb 17, 2022

Greetings,

This weekend is Catholic Charities Weekend. Due to a paper shortage, we were not able to get the information from the diocese out to you early. Thank you for your patience and generosity this weekend as we as a Catholic community reach out to those most in need in our diocese especially during this time of COVID.

In addition to Catholic Charities, we have a lot on our plate over the next two weeks. Most notably is our confirmation retreat this Friday and Saturday. Those who attend the 4:30pm Vigil Mass will see all of our confirmation candidates topping off their two days of spiritual exercises with the holy sacrifice of the Mass. Please keep them in your prayers as Confirmation is right around the corner on March 4. The Most Reverend Martin Amos will be here to be our confirming bishop.

Also, this weekend is the next installment of our Coffee House Concert Series. The Chardon Polka Band will be performing in Zwisler Hall at 4:00pm this Sunday, February 20! Who doesn’t enjoy a polka? Come one and all and enjoy.

On that note, (slight pun intended) it is a good time to let loose and enjoy the polka beat because Lent is also right around the corner. Ash Wednesday is sneaking up on us Wednesday, March 2. Put your plans in place!

Just before that, however, we will be having our Spectacular “A Night in Hollywood” on Saturday, February 26. This is our largest fund raiser for the school and helps with tuition and upgrades for our school. This community is phenomenal in their support of Catholic education and what a blessing it is for our parents and their children to have an alternative source of education, to have the opportunity to learn different things with different founding principles, with greater subsidiarity, in beautiful and safe buildings and the ability to learn about God, the development of the human person and be able to practice the faith. Thank you to everybody who is working to make this night out such a success for our students.

For those looking for a different night out, the next installment of Theology on Tap is coming up at The Thirsty Dog Tap House on Friday, February 25. Doors open at 7:00pm.

IN OTHER NEWS:

CHANGE IN MASS TIME:  The Presidents’ Day Mass on Monday, February 21, will be at 9:00am.

OFFICES CLOSED:  The parish offices will be closed for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 21.

PRE-CANA:  Thank you to everybody who helped make our Pre-Cana Day Retreat a success last weekend. There were sixteen couples present, most of whom are St. Sebastian couples! (We will have a busy wedding season this year.) Please keep our couples preparing for this sacrament in your prayers.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
