The news that St. Sebastian Parish School was named a National Blue Ribbon School sparked multiple celebrations to mark this momentous occasion. Please enjoy the pictures and details below!

SEPTEMBER 19, 2023

Principal Anthony Rohr makes the big announcement to the student body and staff, who gathered for a surprise assembly on September 19.

Our pastor, Fr. John Valencheck, congratulates students for their achievements.

The campus was decorated with blue flags, blue banners, and even blue balloons above the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue.

The St. Sebastian Parish School band played the school's fight song, which features a pause during which the crowd yells "St. Sebastian," which always gets a good response, but this time the volume was one for the record books!

Students were treated to doughnuts with blue icing while they watched the video announcement from the U.S. Department of Education.

After waiting for a long list of Ohio schools to show on the screen, it was finally our turn, and the crowd went wild!!

SEPTEMBER 22, 2023

Parents joined students and staff in dressing in blue for the family celebration on September 22, with music, more blue decorations, blue treats, and plenty of school spirit!

Blue punch and blue cotton candy for everyone!

Thanks to all of our wonderful parents who helped out!

Even the walkway to the school entrance was decked out in blue, thanks to the handiwork of our 4th-graders!

OCTOBER 2, 2023

On October 2, Bishop Edward Malesic of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland celebrated Mass with the St. Sebastian community. Members of the diocese's Office of Catholic Education also joined us.

Our junior high choir sang beautifully for the Mass.

Bishop Malesic (center) is pictured here with our pastor, Fr. John Valencheck (left), and our principal, Mr. Anthony Rohr, (right). Also pictured is Mr. Rohr's dog, Weller, St. Sebastian's much-beloved therapy dog.
