Father's Bulletin Letter - 5.17.2026
May 15, 2026
Greetings,
It is ordination weekend! By the time you read this at the Sunday Masses, six men will have been ordained priests for service to the Diocese of Cleveland, including (Fr.) Joseph Ho who has the onerous task of filling the shoes of Fr. Marcelli, who is being transferred to St. Gabriel Parish in Concord on June 9. When speaking with (Deacon) Joseph Ho, I asked him by what name he will choose to be addressed once he is a priest and he said, “Fr. Joseph.” He chose this “because it is my Christian name.” Please keep him in your prayers!
IN OTHER NEWS:
SEMINARIANS ABOUND: If you attended the 9am Mass last weekend, you would have noticed that our seminarians have returned. Mr. John Scantling has moved into the rectory and will be helping all summer. Mr. Christopher Villarreal was here but will largely be helping at St. John Neumann in Strongsville with Fr. Barry Gearing. Mr. Gabe Kasper of our parish should be seen in our sanctuary over the next few months, and Mr. William Martzaklis of the Diocese of Youngstown visited and did us the favor of serving. In about a week, the other seminarians who will be living with us will be appearing in the sanctuary. More on them when the time comes! Please keep them in your prayers.
WELCOME HOME: Welcome home to our college students who seem to be popping up like the spring crocuses! It is wonderful to see you!
THANKS! All I can say is, “Wow!” You turned out in droves to move mulch around our property this past weekend! Typically, by the time I get out of confessions and change clothes to help, the work has only made it from the church to the far side of the rectory. But the 50 or so people who turned out had already made it as far as Zwisler Hall. Well done! Everything is shaping up beautifully. Soon it will be planting time. Remember, if you want to help keep your parish looking like the gem of the city that it is, your help would be most welcome on Thursdays following morning Mass and announced Saturday mornings. Many blessings to you!
THEOLOGY ON THE ROCKS: This coming Monday, May 18 at Our Lady of the Cedars, Fr. Pfeiffer will be speaking on Church architecture. This will be a complimentary talk to the one that I gave concerning the symbolism of Church architecture. Door open at 7pm and the speaker begins at 7:30pm. For more information, see the Theology on the Rocks Facebook page or page 7 in the bulletin.
POTLUCK BREAKFAST: Our annual Memorial Day Potluck Breakfast will be held following the 9am Memorial Day Mass. See page 10 the bulletin for details. Come to give thanks to God and pray for those who laid down their lives for our benefit and then enjoy the community that we are able to have because of their sacrifice.
God bless,
Fr. Valencheck
