Oct 03, 2024
With test results in from around the state, St. Sebastian Parish School continues its tradition of high academic achievement, outperforming other school sectors in Ohio while providing a holistic education, rooted in faith, that features outstanding academic preparation.
St. Sebastian Parish School outperformed Ohio’s public schools and the Diocese of Cleveland’s Catholic Schools average proficiency scores in every grade level, including 14 of the 14 tested subjects/grades reported on Ohio’s public school report cards. St. Sebastian Parish School is a chartered non-public school, accountable to Ohio’s operating standards, in which every educator is licensed by the state of Ohio. Every student who attends using a state scholarship is required to take assessments approved by the state. The graph and table below illustrate proficiency scores by grade level, comparing St. Sebastian Parish School to Akron Public Schools, DOC Catholic Schools, and Ohio Public Schools as reported on the Ohio School Report Cards.
These results demonstrate academic performance, just one facet of the holistic education provided by St. Sebastian Parish School, which forms young people with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in life as well as the values necessary for life everlasting.
The Diocese of Cleveland’s Keeping the Faith strategic plan for Catholic elementary education calls for strengthening academic excellence through a number of strategies, including the sharing of academic performance information with increased transparency.
