White smoke rises from the Sistine Chapel! Habemus Papam! We have a Pope!
With joy and gratitude, we at St. Sebastian Parish rejoice as Pope Leo XIV is announced as the successor to St. Peter. We welcome our new Holy Father with prayers and hope, asking God to bless and guide him as he shepherds the Church in love and truth. Together with the faithful around the world, we lift our prayers for Pope Leo. May the Holy Spirit strengthen him, and may Our Blessed Mother wrap him in her mantle of protection and intercession.
O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful,
look favorably on your servant Leo,
whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd;
grant, we pray, that by word and example
he may be of service to those over whom he presides
so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care,
he may come to everlasting life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
