Greetings,

It is a week of blessings and grace for us as we make our Annual Eucharistic Devotions. Following this 11am Sunday Mass and continuing day and night until Tuesday evening at 7pm with closing prayers, Our Lord will be exposed on our altar for adoration. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Catholic life and this is our opportunity to put that sentiment into action. It is a tradition of prayer that extends back to the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus said to His disciples, “Could you not spend one hour in prayer with me?” This week we get to say, “Yes, we can.”

Ideally, we need two to three people to sign up and adopt an hour of adoration. Having more than one person allows for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances that might otherwise leave our Blessed Lord without anyone in attendance. There are hours available all day every day, but our weakest hours tend to be around dinnertime and the early hours of the morning.

Please prayerfully consider adopting an hour (or two). Sign-up sheets are available on the altar rail in front of the Blessed Virgin Mary Statue. This year, you may also sign up online via our website. Thank you for considering this ministry to Our Lord and to the community.

If you are unable to adopt a specific hour or are unable to fill an entire hour, come at any random time for as long as you can as often as you can in Thanksgiving and Adoration for our parish and faith. If there is no way you can stop in even for five minutes, we are fortunate in having glass front doors through which you can see all the way to the altar. As you are driving by, stop for fifteen seconds and acknowledge our Lord.

It is always such a joy to spot someone jogging past the church and stopping and bowing to Jesus in the tabernacle, or parking for a moment. Any token of special attention you might offer brings blessings to you and our community. Thank you for your consideration.

PRAYER SERVICES: There will be a prayer service every night of Eucharistic Devotions at 7pm.

NO CONFESSIONS THIS WEEK: Because of Eucharistic Devotions, there will not be confessions this Tuesday night. Please plan accordingly.

THEOLOGY ON THE ROCKS: I will be speaking at Theology on the Rocks next week on Monday, September 21. The topic will be relics and how more common they are among the general public than most people realize. Catholics just happen to own up to it and do it well. See page 9 in the bulletin for more details.
