Father's Bulletin Letter - 7.6.2025
Jul 01, 2025
Greetings,
As we wrap up the Brick Street Jazz and Wine Festival, the workers and volunteers pass the torch on to the workers and volunteers for the St. Sebastian Parish Festival, which is coming up July 31 through August 2.
Before moving on to the festival, a big thank you to Mr. Scott Mason (Director of the ACA) and his team for a wonderful night at the BSJ&W Festival that benefits the Academy of Culture and Arts at St. Sebastian. Also, thanks to Mr. Mike Zimmerman (our Facilities Manager) and his team and our seminarians for setting up for TWO BSJ&W Festivals: One inside and one outside! At the last minute, Mr. Mason had to make the call to move everything indoors where it would be dry. The air conditioning made up for missing the night sky and the twinkling lights and the Syx Bryx Jazz Ensemble and the Whirlybirds sounded fantastic in the acoustics of our hall. Thank you also to our marvelous sponsors and volunteers. Many blessings to you!
IN OTHER NEWS:
PARISH FESTIVAL: Now we are ready to turn our attention to our Parish Festival, held each year close the date of the founding of the parish in 1928. There will be three days of activities to celebrate and give thanks for the gift of our parish. Some of the events are ticketed and some are free and open to the family. Get your tickets now for the ticketed events! We have sold out in the past. See elsewhere in the bulletin for details.
THANK YOU PARISH COUNCIL: This time of year we have a turning over of one third of our parish council. Ana Borges, Linda Saliga, Will Gibson and Hannah Paulin (president) have completed their terms. Thank you for your dedication, hard work and assistance in keeping St. Sebastian Parish strong. Taking their places will be Brian Hanna, Carrie Rea, Symon Graham and Andrew Pirie. Terry Tolson will serve as our new president. Thank you for taking on these important roles for the welfare of the parish. How can parish council serve you? On our Church Website under “ABOUT”, you will find the members of Parish Council as well as the Parish Council Email address.
If you have exciting ideas for the parish or ways that the parish can grow more effective in its mission, you may contact the Parish Council and they will bring it up at their meeting. Parish Council also undertakes other programs and ideas for the parish as well as contacting every ministry in the parish on a monthly basis in order to have a central place for input and questions to be funneled and a mechanism for keeping the parish informed as to who is responsible for each of the groups, what events are coming up and how the greater parish might assist or be assisted by each group. I encourage each contact person to respond to these inquiries (even if it is “nothing to report this month”) or to contact the parish if you think that you group is not being contacted.
God bless,
Fr. Valencheck
