Father's Bulletin Letter 7.17.22

Jul 14, 2022

Greetings,

Kenmore Construction is the company that has been selected to resurface Mull Avenue. The company subcontracted to lay the brick down is Vismeg Landscape. We had a meeting with them this past Monday to see about linking into this project to repair our brick drives: the drive leading up to the rectory garages and courtyard where the Wine & Jazz Festival was held. Pictures were taken, measurements made and the scope of the project was discussed and now we await an estimate. Say a prayer!

As far as Vismeg knows, the project is still delayed because of the water lines. It may be that our project would be done first (if we move forward.) It may even take place this winter. As more information comes in, I will let you know.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Here are some general goings on:

JULY 18th: This Monday I will be leaving for West Virginia to attend a seminar being put on by the St. Paul Biblical Theology Center to fulfill my diocesan continuing education recommendations. I will be gone for the remainder of the week but will be back home for Sunday Masses.

JULY 18th: Theology on the Rocks will be visiting St. Paul Parish where there will be the expected edibles and refreshments! Fr. Pfeiffer will be speaking on “The Most Liturgical Sport: The Spirituality of Baseball,” which is timely since the All Star Game will be the following night, Tuesday, July 19th. What better way to prepare to watch the game? Doors open at 7:00 and Father Pfeiffer will speak at 7:30. Admission is $10.

JULY 23rd & 24th: This will be the weekend of our annual Mission Appeal. The diocese assigns parishes one mission appeal per year (to avoid parishes being constantly bombarded for monetary requests.) This year we will hear a missionary speak on behalf of Divine Word Missionaries. Prayerfully consider your support.

JULY 30th: Our First Parish Summer Festival! This parish wide event will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Come and be a part of it! The Festival is sponsored by the Sanctuary Society who does so much for our parish.

AUGUST 4th: The Ron Martin Steel Drum Band will be performing in the courtyard beginning at 7:00pm. Feel free to bring a blanket or a lawn chair and pack a picnic if you wish! Bring the neighborhood. A freewill offering will be accepted.

AUGUST 4th: Fr. Bozek will be taking off for a few weeks for a (hopefully) restful vacation. We will try to have visiting priests around to assist with confessions and such.

These are some of the events you might not want to miss. But also the church’s air conditioning is also working well. Come and spend an hour (or what have you) with the Lord on a Tuesday when He is exposed on our altar until benediction at 7:40pm. If you have been wanting to do so, summer is a great time to get into the habit of attending daily Mass. Please pray for our friends at St. Bernard Parish who had some challenges getting to Mass during the difficulties downtown.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
