Father's Bulletin Letter 5.15.22

May 12, 2022

Greetings!

We have a new auxiliary bishop! According to our diocesan website, “Pope Francis has appointed the Rev. Michael G. Woost as auxiliary bishop of Cleveland. Bishop-elect Woost is a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland and currently serves as a member of the faculty of Saint Mary Seminary. In addition, he was recently appointed as the interim director of the diocesan Office for Worship. Bishop-elect Woost will be ordained to the episcopate during Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Thursday, August 4, 2022.” Please keep him in your prayers.

IN OTHER NEWS:

CONSTRUCTION:  This morning (Monday) I looked out my window to see trucks blocking traffic. The gas line project, which was supposed to be finished a while back, seems to be finishing up replacing the sections of sidewalk torn up to give access to place the new lines. As we bid farewell to that project, we brace for the Mull Avenue project! However, it appears that this undertaking may be postponed for a year due to supply chain difficulties. We are awaiting confirmation of this news and will let you know as soon as it can be confirmed.

CONCERTS THIS WEEKEND:  This Sunday, May 15, at 5:00pm, Quire Cleveland will be performing at St. Sebastian Parish! On Friday, they are performing at our Cathedral of St. John in Cleveland, the next day at St. Noel and then heading south to Akron for their final performance. The concert is free and open to the public. Families welcome. This celebrated, professional company will give us a rare chance to hear such music live and in our own backyard!

Also, this Sunday at 2:00pm the Academy of Culture and Arts at St. Sebastian will be having their yearly recital in Zwisler Hall. You are invited to support budding artists in their craft!

SEMINARIANS:  At the end of this week we should begin to see the seminarians who will be staying with us begin to trickle in. Two will only be with us for a short while before heading off to other projects and one will stay for the entire summer. Please keep them in your prayers!

FIRST COMMUNION:  Students from Julie Billiart Akron will be making their First Holy Communion this Saturday morning. Congratulations! Please keep them in your prayers.

MSGR. CHIMA NWAMADI:  Undoubtedly, most of you by now have become aware of a priest who is visiting us from Nigeria for a couple of weeks. Many are familiar with him from his stay here under the pastorate of Fr. Karg. For those who do not know him or if you want to get caught up on him, he has written a letter to the parish that you may find elsewhere in this bulletin.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
