Father's Bulletin Letter 2.13.22

Feb 10, 2022

Greetings,

Happy (almost) St. Valentine Day and welcome to those engaged couples who are at Mass this weekend because of attending our Pre-Cana retreat. Please keep these and all of our couples preparing for the sacrament of Holy Matrimony in your prayers. Also, thank you to all those who put in so many hours providing our Pre-Cana retreat! God bless you!

IN OTHER NEWS:

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL:  As announced last weekend, Parish Pastoral Council is seeking nominations (yourself or a fellow parishioner) to fill the soon to be vacant seats for four of our members as their term of service comes to an end. Please prayerfully consider this request and pick up one of the small nomination forms in one of the lobbies of the church. You may bring them to the rectory, mail them in, hand them to an usher at Mass or drop them in the collection basket.

HALLS:  Between activities starting back up and those events that had been postponed falling later on the calendar and many requests for rentals, it has been mentioned to me a number of times that it is difficult to find available dates in our halls. If you or your organization were thinking of hosting an event here at the parish within the next year or so, I urge you to get your event on the calendar quickly.

One of the sayings that we often make mention of about St. Sebastian Parish is that we are building rich and space poor. We really could do with some more elbow room particularly in office space and right-sized meeting spaces. Just so you know, some ideas are being kicked around and preliminary envisioning is taking place through various organizations in the parish. If you would like an early idea pitched forward, please send it in at your earliest convenience.

CHARDON POLKA BAND:  Ready for a fun time? As part of our Coffee House Concert Series, the Chardon Polka Band will be performing in Zwisler Hall next Sunday, February 20, at 4:00pm. All are welcome.

EXTRAORDINARY FORM SURVEY:  Fr. Doug Brown sent an email last week stating that if you do not want to submit your questionnaire online, it can be printed and mailed in to the following address:  Mary Queen of Peace, 4423 Pearl Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT:  Those preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation will be having their retreat at the end of this coming week. Please send a prayer their way as these young people prepare for the full indwelling of the Holy Spirit and full initiation into the Church.

VACATION:  Please note that Fr. Bozek is on vacation in Poland for three weeks! We will have guest priests in from time to time to help cover confessions and some Masses, but largely it will just be Chester and me here.

The printing of Fr. Bozek’s homilies seems to be pretty successful. We made about 100 copies last weekend and almost all of them seem to have been taken. I keep hearing compliments about his homilies and I hope this extra aid will assist you in being able to follow along with him.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
