Father's Bulletin Letter 10.24.21

Oct 20, 2021

Here are some activities that are coming up that might be interesting to put on your calendar:

AUTUMN LIGHTS THIS SUNDAY:  This Sunday, October 24, at 6:30pm is our annual Autumn Lights celebration. The new rectory garden doors will be wide open as part of the grounds for this gathering and we will have our traditional bon-fires and snacks and close with Compline (night prayer) by candlelight in the church.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY OCTOBER 30 & 31:  This weekend is Priesthood Sunday! A seminarian will be speaking at all of the weekend Masses to tell us his vocation story. Please keep all Church vocations and those who are (or should be) entertaining such a vocation in your prayers.

ORGAN CONCERT FRIDAY NOVEMBER 5:  While it will be live-streamed, there is NOTHING to be compared to hearing this wonderful instrument live and in person and in such capable hands (and feet) as Mr. Scott Montgomery. If you would like a sampling of his talents he is easily found by searching “Scott Montgomery organist” on YouTube.

The concert is free and open to the public.  Donation will be gratefully accepted and applied toward the Lynn Frey-Steward Organ Scholarship Fund to help train young organists to take over the role of parish organists.

EXPLORER DAYS NOVEMBER 19:  Do you have young folk in your family that are getting ready to begin kindergarten? Our parish school will be hosting an opportunity for these students and their families to tour the school, meet the principal, learn about our curriculum, see our students at work and young students given the chance to interact in the classroom with some fun activities. Register by calling the school office at 330-836-9170 or visit our parish school’s website. I recommend sooner rather than later.

ALTAR SERVERS:  Having been asked when we will be training new servers, I have asked Keith Johnson to put together our fall training.  Keep an eye out in the bulletin for details coming soon!

SERRA CLUB:  The Serra Club is an organization that promotes vocations. They invite you to become a part of their organization. Look up “Serra Club Akron” in your browser and keep an eye out for more information coming your way.

God bless,

Fr. Valencheck
