Humility of Mary Sister Loretta Rafter (formerly Sr. John Mary) began her career teaching St. Sebastian fourth graders in 1962. Her work with Humility of Mary Housing is featured as part of the Progress & Promise: Sisters Serving Northeast Ohio exhibit, on display at St. Bernard-St. Mary Parish church, 44 University Ave., Akron, through May 16. Visitors can view the exhibit in the Upper Chapel Room 9:30-2:30pm Monday through Friday, 11am-5:30pm Saturdays, and 9am-9pm Sundays. The exhibit is in collaboration with the national exhibit Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America, sponsored by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. Learn More.

 

Progress and Promise: Sisters Serving Northeast OhioBrick Street Jazz and Wine Festival

Date: Thursday, July 19 (pre-show begins at 5 p.m.)

Enjoy an evening full of jazz music, fine wine, refreshments and appetizers in the brickstreet parking lot and ground of St. Sebastian Parish. This event is a celebration of community and all those ages 21 and older are welcome. Ernie Krivda, well-known jazz musician will be the headliner at 8 p.m. Tickets will be sold online (coming soon) and through the Rectory office. Learn More.

years old and in use every day, our organ –
now a half-century old – is approaching the

New parishioners are most welcome and should phone the rectory or fill out the online form at the Become a Member page as soon as possible in order to schedule an appointment to register. Current parishioners who must leave us, should call the rectory with your date of departure. We'll miss you and bid you God's blessings.
