Pilgrimage 2013
— a Year of Faith journey.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, encouraged us during this Year of Faith to seek opportunities to deepen our faith and renew our baptismal call to holiness. A pilgrimage to a sacred place, especially one we might not have visited before, can be an ideal occasion for this. In addition, in observance of this Year of Faith, the Church offers pilgrims the gift of indulgences as a chance to open themselves to the purity of heart and penitential spirit associated with this special year.

St. Sebastian Parish has been chosen by Bishop Richard Lennon as a pilgrimage site for the Cleveland Diocese. The 2013 Pilgrimage begins May 18th/19th and runs through September 7th/8th. Doors will open each Saturday from 3 pm–7 pm and Sunday 7am–7pm with a designated area for prayer and reflection. You will receive a “Pilgrim Passport” at the first parish you visit. As you journey to each site, the passport will be stamped for that location.

Begin your pilgrimage at these four churches:

St. Mary Parish
320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035

St. Mary Church
242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077

St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception
527 Beall Avenue, Wooster, Ohio 44691

St. Sebastian Parish
476 Mull Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44320

Complete your Year of Faith Pilgrimage at:

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
1007 Superior Avenue E., Cleveland, Ohio 44114

Bring your fully stamped passport to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist to receive a completion certificate. The first 1200 people to complete their pilgrimage will receive a commemorative Year of Faith medal.
