The following music ministries are available at Saint Sebastian Parish. Contact Lynn Frey for more information on any of them.

Cantors

Masses are assigned with a rotation schedule.
Rehearsals: Seasonally and scheduled a year in advance.

Cantors lead the assembly in worship and song. A pleasant voice and a welcoming demeanor are essential. The ministry is open to anyone Junior High age or older. Training is provided; rehearsals are held seasonally.

Children's Choir

Seasonal Masses – Christmas/Easter Time
Rehearsals: Sat. 3 p.m. for 8 weeks prior to singing.

Children of the parish, grades one through eight, are invited to be a part of the Children’s Choir, a seasonal group that sings for Christmas and at Easter time. Students may be involved in the choir for one or both seasons. Rehearsals are held seasonally and last approximately 8 weeks prior to their first Mass.

Handbell Choir

All Masses – occasionally throughout the year
Meets September through June
Rehearsals – 6:00 p.m. Thursdays

Through the unique sounds of bells, members enhance liturgies during the year and participate in other musical outreach programs as well as special occasions and concerts. The ability to read music is not required. Membership is open to teens and adults.

Parish Choir

Parish Choir sings traditional and multicultural music for weekly Liturgies as well as holidays, special occasions and concerts. The Choir is open to teens and adults with pleasant singing voices. They offer prayer and social gatherings throughout the year. No audition is required and the ability to read music is optional. Currently, they are planning a choral Pilgrimmage to Italy in July 2011, to sing a high Mass in St. Peter’s, a concert for the city of Rome, a selection for the Pope at a Papal Audience, a Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and a night in Florence. All are welcome to join them.

Praise and Worship Ensemble

Sundays: 11 a.m. – rotate in Summer
Rehearsals: Wed. – 7:30 p.m.

This group provides a wide variety of instrumental, vocal and ensemble music for Liturgies, special occasions, concerts, and holidays. Teens and adults with a pleasant singing voice or capable instrumental skills are welcome. Vocal audition or the ability to read music is not required. Rehearsals with prayer and fellowship are held weekly year round.

Ressurection Choir

Funerals – occasionally
Rehearsals: - none unless prior to Funeral

This group was developed to offer musical prayer to the grieving at their Funeral Masses. They sing all the hymnody with the congregation to encourage congregational song. This is a wonderful ministry for retirees who cannot make a huge commitment but can occasionally attend a Funeral Mass to sing. There are no rehearsals involved unless it is prior to the Funeral. No audition required and the ability to read music is not necessary. Just the desire to minister to the grieving through song.
